Today I am pleased to announce Terms of Reference for the Independent Review of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Support System (the Review).

On the 28th of April, I announced the appointment of two independent reviewers to conduct the Review, Mr Mathew Jose and Ms Rachael Thompson.

Since their appointment, they have been consulting on the Terms of Reference that will inform the outcomes and recommendations of the Review across the wide range of those who work in parliament and within the broader parliamentary workplace, including parliamentarians, departments and staff.

The Review will ensure the systems and frameworks under which Members and Senators operate, including their offices, resources, and staff, remain fit-for-purpose in a modern, diverse and evolving parliament. The Review will also examine the appropriateness and suitability of safety and security arrangements for parliamentary offices in a changing democratic landscape.

I look forward to continuing to work with the reviewers to improve the systems underpinning our strong parliamentary democracy.
