QUESTION: Minister, will the media reform legislation be put to the Senate in the next sitting fortnight and do you expect it to pass?

MATHIAS CORMANN: It is certainly the Government's intention to put media law reform to the Senate in the next fortnight. We never take anything for granted. We never make any predictions on what will ultimately happen in the Senate. But my good friend and valued colleague Mitch Fifield continues to work very hard with all non-government Senators to ensure we get a positive outcome.

QUESTION: There are a few interesting motions being put before the WA Liberal party conference, including abolishing our aid budget and halving the minimum wage. Do you have a view on any of these?

MATHIAS CORMANN: There is always a strong and robust debate at Liberal Party conferences around Australia. I will let the conference take its course. I am very confident that the democratic processes in the WA Liberal party will lead to sensible outcomes.

QUESTION: What about the one that includes WA seceding from the rest of the Commonwealth?

MATHIAS CORMANN: The great state of Western Australia is an important part of our great nation and will continue to be an important part of our great nation after the WA Liberal party state conference. I am very confident of that.
