Date

The Morrison Government will hand down the 2021-22 Budget on Tuesday 11 May 2021.

To ensure the security and integrity of the Budget, and the health and safety of participants, arrangements for the lock-up have been modified from previous years to be compliant with health restrictions related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Media organisations are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to attend the lock-up on Tuesday 11 May at Parliament House, Canberra where Budget documents will be available from 1.30 pm.

The media lockup will occur within the Press Gallery and thus space in the lock-up is limited to COVIDSafe room capacities in individual suites where outlets already operate. There will also be limited arrangements in the capital cities for major media outlets similar to last year.

Media organisations must register their EOI via https://registration.budget.gov.au/media-registration-form by 5 pm on Friday 23 April with the names and positions of employees seeking access.

Note that registering your interest does not guarantee a place in the lock-up. Treasury will confirm approved registrations via email.

Stakeholders will be given embargoed access to Budget material at a lock-up in Canberra. With all COVID-19 mitigations and controls in place, this secure event will be strictly limited. Treasury will arrange with stakeholders directly.

The Treasury will continue to implement the strictest physical and digital security protocols to ensure information security and the health and safety of attendees.

All attendees will be required to agree to confidentiality terms and conditions. In the event of a breach of the terms and conditions, all legal options available to the Commonwealth will be pursued and the organisation and/or individual involved risks not being able to participate in any future Treasury lock-up.

All enquiries regarding the Budget lock-up should be directed to Treasury via 02 6263 3788.

As in previous years, Budget documents will be available via www.budget.gov.au from 7.30 pm on Tuesday 11 May.
