Advances to the Finance Minister in the week ending Friday 2 October 2020
Senator the Hon. Mathias Cormann
Minister for Finance
Leader of the Government in the Senate
Senator for Western Australia
This week I made $1,192.9 million in additional funding available to support the Government’s response to the COVID‑19 pandemic by using the Advance to the Finance Minister (the AFM) through two determinations.
The first determination provided $808.8 million to the Department of Health to support access to COVID 19 vaccines through initial payments to the COVAX Facility and against agreements with AstraZeneca, CSL and Seqirus.
The determination was made from the AFM that was appropriated by the Parliament in Supply Act (No. 1) 2020-2021 and was signed on 28 September 2020.
The second determination provided $384.1 million to the Department of Health to fund the procurement of additional personal protective equipment and other emergency medical or emergency health equipment to deal with the impact of COVID-19 in Australia.
The determination was made from the AFM that was appropriated by the Parliament in Supply Act (No. 2) 2020-2021 and was signed on 30 September 2020.
Both determinations are registered on the Federal Register of Legislation, together with Explanatory Statements (these are available at legislation.gov.au).
