Snowy Hydro Limited Board appointments
JOINT MEDIA RELEASE
Senator the Hon. Mathias Cormann
Minister for Finance
Leader of the Government in the Senate
Senator for Western Australia
The Hon. Angus Taylor MP
Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction
The Government has appointed Mr David Knox as Chair of the Snowy Hydro Limited Board for a term of three years, commencing 1 January 2020.
Mr Knox brings valuable energy sector and engineering experience, including in top roles at Santos Limited and BP, to the Board at a time when the Company is going through a period of growth and transition.
As the current Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Australian Naval Infrastructure, another Government Business Enterprise, Mr Knox is well positioned to guide Snowy Hydro into the future.
The Government has also reappointed to the Snowy Hydro Limited Board, the Hon. Helen Coonan for a further six months, and Mr Richard Sheppard for a further two years.
Ms Coonan and Mr Sheppard’s reappointments provide the Board with valuable expertise in the legal, engineering, and financial sectors, and provides continuity as the Snowy 2.0 project progresses.
The Government thanks the outgoing Chair, Mr Noel Cornish AM, for his service. As Chair, Mr Cornish has guided the Company through its transition to a wholly Commonwealth owned Company and made a significant contribution to the progression of Snowy 2.0. Mr Cornish's term will conclude on 31 December 2019.
We congratulate the appointees and look forward to continuing to work with the Snowy Hydro Board and Management, in particular to ensure the successful delivery of Snowy 2.0.
