The Jewish Community Centre in Yokine has been a key part of the Stirling community since 1974. It is a well established place where people can meet for work, sport and play.

To ensure the Centre continues to meet the needs of the community, the Government has committed to support its redevelopment project with a $6 million grant.

During the election the Morrison Government announced $300,000 for repairs and renovations to the Centre, however it was clear that the Centre needed a once-in-a-generation redevelopment.

Since then we have been engaging with the community to develop a proposal, and this vision will now become a reality.

The Centre currently comprises office space for a number of Jewish community groups, an open space for social and cultural activities, seminars and presentations, meeting facilities and the Holocaust Institute. But there is potential for much more.

The plan to refurbish the Centre is the most significant capital works project since it was built and is designed to secure a sustainable future for the Centre.

The vision for the new Jewish Community Centre is to create an iconic Western Australian community facility in the heart of the Perth Jewish Precinct, with a Perth Holocaust Museum and William Cooper Memorial as its centrepiece. The refurbished centre will also incorporate a community day care centre and a multi-purpose, multi-use Jewish Community Centre.

In particular, the construction of a new Perth Holocaust Museum will ensure that the Western Australian community can help to promote education, integration and understanding for many years to come.

The Government shares this vision with the Jewish Community Centre and we are pleased to contribute to making this vision a reality.
