NBN Co Limited’s (nbn) 2017 half-yearly results released today showcase the company’s strong performance in rolling out the network and connecting users, and confirm nbn is on track to deliver Australia’s largest infrastructure project on time and on budget.
Once again, these results show the company has the right plan to deliver affordable, high-speed broadband to all Australians by 2020.
This year, the network will also reach the half-way completion mark, a huge achievement for one of the most complex infrastructure projects ever undertaken by Government.
The network is fast becoming a reality for all Australians, with 80 per cent of the entire network either in the design, construction or ready for service stage.
In September 2013, fewer than three per cent of Australian premises could obtain a service on the network. Now, under the Government’s multi-technology approach, nbn has more than 4 million premises ready for service – more than one-third of all Australian homes and businesses.
Revenue continues to climb from nbn connections which are increasing by close to 30,000 premises every week.
The company earned $403 million for the six months to end December which is almost as much as the total revenue earned in FY16.
With these results nbn has demonstrated that it can build a scalable and sustainable business while delivering superior broadband plans at affordable prices for consumers.
