The Government has reappointed Mr Bruce Carter as the Chair of the ASC Pty Ltd (ASC) Board for a further three years.

Mr Carter has been the Chair of ASC since 1 October 2012, having served on the ASC Board since 2010 as a non-executive director.

Working closely with the Government, Mr Carter has led a transformation within ASC in recent years.

Following the implementation of the recommendations in the Coles review, submarine maintenance and availability has significantly improved, with submarine availability consistently exceeding the interim targets set by the Royal Australian Navy.

With the Air Warfare Destroyer program, Mr Carter has worked with the government to implement the recommendations of the AWD Reform Strategy, to minimise budget and schedule overruns in the project. Productivity has improved by around 35 per cent as a result and delivery of the second and third Air Warfare Destroyers is now expected up to three months earlier than previously anticipated.

Mr Carter’s reappointment also provides continuity for ASC’s involvement in a number of ongoing procurement processes.
