Senator the Hon Mathias Cormann

Today is the last day for Mark Burgess as the Managing Director and President of the Future Fund before his return to the private sector.

On behalf of the Australian Government I would like to thank him for his outstanding service and leadership of the Fund.

During his time leading the Future Fund it has grown to $96.6 billion, up from $75.4 billion when he started in July 2011.

Mr Burgess led the Future Fund during a period where financial markets continued to evolve following the Global Financial Crisis.

Mr Burgess ensured that the Future Fund’s investment model and strategy maximised its ability to generate the required long term risk-adjusted returns.

I wish Mr Burgess well in his future endeavours and thank him for his contribution to the success of the Future Fund.
